Halloween is creeping closer and closer, and the race to find a unique infant costume ensues. Most of us have said goodbye to plastic masks that were included in almost all of the cool costumes that kids wanted. This is a big improvement because for even the most determined Trick or Treaters, it is hard for them to enjoy their holiday if they are sweating and uncomfortable in their costume. And when an infant is trick or treating for the first time, they will let you know when they are uncomfortable or tired. The base of designing a good costume for infants is comfortably and sensitivity, this will make sure the night is a pleasant night of Trick or Treating for the whole family.
Many of the
infant Halloween costumes that already exist are sleepers with hoods that are decorated to look like popular television characters, or the newest kid's movies or storybook characters. They are stylish, cute and cuddly as well as easy to slip on and off just in case you need to change a diaper on the fly. If you are on a small budget, baby pajamas is all you may need, or a footed sleeper, you just need to add some creative ingenuity by decorating the pajamas, face painting or an accessory or two.
Face Painting
Be careful when you choose face paints, make sure they are water based and baby safe and made to be used on sensitive skin. Look on the package and make sure that it says the product is FDA approved to be used on infants and babies. Keep in mind that when you apply paint to a baby's skin, there is a greater chance of them getting an allergic reaction than that of an older child, you may want to do a test spot by painting their arm, just a small dot to make sure they aren't allergic to the paint you are using.
Also, I would recommend that you use a brush with soft bristles or a cotton swab, so you do not scratch the babies skin, or irritate it.
DESIGNS FOR FACE PAINTING BABIES
If your baby's first Halloween costume has them dressed up as a bunny, a kitty cat, or even a puppy dog, a few small whiskers or a paw print will be enough to finish their costume. If you want to take it a little further, you can paint the very tip of your baby's nose pink, for the bunny and the kitten, or black if you are using the puppy costume. If you have many children, let them all help and get in the fun! You can make so an entire family of kittens or puppies are going Trick or Treating together!
HOW TO KEEP YOUR INFANT'S COSTUME SIMPLE
To older kids, being face painted like a little Frankenstein, ghouls and zombies with entirely green faces is irresistible. In my opinion, it is a big mistake to paint a baby's face entirely white to look like a ghost. The best advice out there for a successful infant Halloween costume is to keep it simple.
The excitement the baby has for his or her first Halloween will probably be exhausting for the baby thus being enjoyable for the adults. When everything is concluded, you will have an exhausted child and a Halloween costume that needs to be taken off. When you come to this point you will realize the intelligent decision you made when it came to choosing a minimal amount of face paint and clothing because there will be less to remove at the end. Sometime, a hastily way to wind down the festivities can be just as important as the baby's first costume for Halloween.
